Studio Evans Lane were commissioned to develop proposals for redeveloping a brownfield carparking area adjacent to Monkey Island Hotel – a Grade I Listed Hotel on an island in the Thames. The hotel itself is accessible only via footbridge, and the carpark is on the mainland side of this access.
Originally housing a single storey staff accommodation block, this planning application was for four new-build detached houses occupying part of the site, with a landscaping scheme for the remaining, rationalised car park.
Located within Greenbelt, adjacent to the setting of the Thames, and within an area of flood risk, numerous investigations were necessary to support the application, including Flood Risk Assessment, Aboriculture and Ecology reports.
