LAKE DISTRICT HOTEL
The Samling is a Grade II Listed boutique hotel with eleven rooms and a restaurant overlooking Lake Windermere, within the area of outstanding natural beauty (AONB) that is the Lake District National Park.
Following the completion of a masterplan and wider intervention plan by Studio Evans Lane the first phase of the project, an extension to the Michelin Starred kitchen to provide a 48 cover restaurant, Chef’s table and wine cellar was completed under a Design and Build contract in 2017.
A predominantly glazed enclosure supported on a stone base level formed the extension to the Listed house. The Planning Consent achieved involved extensive liaison with Historic England as well as the local Planning Authority in order to secure permission to undertake works in this sensitive location.
Phase 2 of the development is yet to be undertaken, and involves the development of a wellness facility with spa and pool in one of the existing stone built outhouses.
