The project was inspired by the work of sculptor Barbara Hepworth and directly references the juxtaposition of her bronze sculptural interventions set within the naturalistic simplicity of her own garden in St Ives. The feature elements – Fence, Bridge and Pavilion, are the physical manifestation of a piece of music commissioned by the Hepworth Trust, the sound-wave pattern re-imagined as a multitude of linear steel flats forming the various elements. A 4.1m spun steel dish forms the roof of the pavilion, providing a high-level reservoir, water flows over the edge and into the pool below, casting reflections onto the pavilion floor.
